"We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks..."

Our month-long quest has finally come to a close, and according to the people Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" is the greatest karaoke song of all time. I'm just as surprised as anyone else.

The voting broke down as follows:

Total Eclipse Of The Heart - Bonnie Tyler [27%]
500 Miles - The Proclaimers [13%]
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen [13%]
Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper [13%]
Cater 2 U - Destinys Child [7%]
Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen [7%]
I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor [7%]
Never Tear Us Apart - INXS [7%]
My Way - Frank Sinatra [7%]
...Baby One More Time - Britney Spears [0%]
Cherry Pie - Warrant [0%]
The Rockafeller Skank - Fatboy Slim [0%]

At this point, we arrive at a dilemma, as the process of voting was meant to allow us to arrive at five clear winners for use in the final project. I haven't yet decided whether or not to expand the selection [you know, in the name of true democracy and all that]. You will find out very soon.

In the meantime, The Song Remains The Same takes place in 10 days. Time to get your Bonnie on.

Daniel.

[For anyone who's keen, comments have been turned back on. No insurance spam though... that's just not nice.]

"Scaramouche, Scaramouche will you do the Fandango?"

[Voting has now closed. The winning songs will be posted shortly.]
After two weeks of suggestions via this site and by email, we've arrived at the following shortlist of 12 songs, from which 5 will be chosen depending on votes by you. The shortlist was drawn from the number of times a song was suggested, and are displayed in order.
For those playing at home, the numbers tallied as such:
1. Cater 2 U - Destiny's Child [10 Votes - Although 9 of these were received in the space of two minutes]
2. Total Eclipse of The Heart - Bonnie Tyler [3 Votes]
3. 500 Miles - The Proclaimers [2 Votes]
4. ...Baby One More Time - Britney Spears [2 Votes]
5. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen [2 Votes]
6. Cherry Pie - Warrant [2 Votes]
7. Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen [2 Votes]
8. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor [2 Votes]
9. Never Tear Us Apart - INXS [2 Votes]
10. Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper [2 Votes]
Queen is the only artist or group to appear twice, but they were also the only artist or group where someone suggested "Anything by..." Unable to differentiate, we awarded a point to both songs already nominated. The other two to make the list were given a nudge by me. My Way by Frank Sinatra receiving the "Really Obvious Song That Should've Made The List" award and The Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim receiving a point for being the most unlikely karaoke song ever... ever.
Doesn't mean it'll get through though, for the next two weeks the rest is up to you.
Happy clicking,
Daniel.

"At Waterloo Napoleon did surrender..."

Hello there.

What is your all time favourite karaoke song?
Tell us, and then have the chance to live it at the Electrofringe 2005, part of the This Is Not Art Festival in Newcastle.

Vote by simply leaving a comment under this post, and we'll tabulate the numbers.
Alternatively, send an email to thesongremainsthesame.ef05@gmail.com and you can also be informed about the progress of the project. Your details won't be passed on to anyone else, we promise.

More information [and possibly a nicer website] will be available soon.

Why kill your idols, when you can be them instead?

Love,
Daniel

Update 23-08-05:
Some people have had problems logging comments, so I've turned off the word verification thing to try and fix this. Hope that helps.

Watch out for stock advice.
