"At Waterloo Napoleon did surrender..."

Hello there.

What is your all time favourite karaoke song?
Tell us, and then have the chance to live it at the Electrofringe 2005, part of the This Is Not Art Festival in Newcastle.

Vote by simply leaving a comment under this post, and we'll tabulate the numbers.
Alternatively, send an email to thesongremainsthesame.ef05@gmail.com and you can also be informed about the progress of the project. Your details won't be passed on to anyone else, we promise.

More information [and possibly a nicer website] will be available soon.

Why kill your idols, when you can be them instead?

Love,
Daniel

Update 23-08-05:
Some people have had problems logging comments, so I've turned off the word verification thing to try and fix this. Hope that helps.

Watch out for stock advice.

Surely it's got to be Warrant's "Cherry Pie".

Dude, if you need Pie, you need "American Pie" although it really does suck for everyone else.

Failing that, you need "It's raining men", which everyone will love. I assure you.

Tough gig ...

Having taken a wealth of factors into consideration I nominate the following (in no particular order):
1) Pour some sugar on me - Def Leppard
2) 500 miles - The Proclaimers (I'm on my way - honurable mention)
3) Anything by Meatloaf. Pressed for an answer I'd say I would do anything
for love (but I won't do that)
4) Total eclipse of the heart - Bonnie Tyler
5) Boom shake, shake, shake the room - Will smith. My left field selection.

tough gig indeed

I don't think there's a definitive answer, here's what I'm feeling at the moment
1) Jump - Kris Kros (must be a duet)
2) Last Night - Az yet
3) Two steps behind - def leppard
4) I wear my sunglasses at night
5) I saw the sign (don't ask me why this popped into my head)

1. Cyndi Lauper - TIME AFTER MOTHERFUCKEN TIME

You need songs the girls can sing everyone knows this one.

2. The Stranglers - Golden Brown
Possibly the catchiest song of ALL TIME.

3. Weezer - Undone (The Sweater Song)

Easy to song, easy to learn, very drunken sing-songy. Sounds good with more than one person doing it.

4. Weezer - El Scorcho

Why you wanna go and do me like that? Come down on the street and dance with me!

5. New Order - Blue Monday

Need I say more?

6. Gunners - Sweet Child of Mine

Fuck yeah!

7. Gunners - Paradise City

Fuck yeah!

8. Kylie - Locomotion

These tapes will bring strong returns when it comes to the post-festival blackmail.

9. Beatles - Hard Days Night

Everyone seems to know the words to this one.

10. Bowie - Space Oddity

Everyone knows Major Tom. Or maybe "Ashes To Ashes", "Rebel Rebel" or "Suffragette City"

Honorable mentions from previous votes:

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart
INXS - Never Tear Us Apart
Proclaimers - 500 Miles
Warrant - Cherry Pie

A lot of you seem to think it's still fifteen years ago and that people remember all the words to every hair metal song. This is WRONG.

P.S. NO SPANDAU BALLET!

X. Sinead O'Conner - Nothing Compares 2 U

Bring bald wigs.

X. Fatboy Slim - The Rockafeller Skank

Just imagine a bunch of drunken retards singing "FUNK SOUL BRUVVA!" You might even get some locals. Plus the words are easy.

X. Iggy Pop - Lust For Life

Get the old weathered drunk British dudes in on it, plus all the tryhard Trainspotting fucks.

Although the suggestions for songs closed as of yesterday, these were received by email on Monday of last week.

1. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
2. I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.
3. My Way by Frank Sinatra.

...

Personally, I'm surprised it took so long for Bohemian Rhapsody to enter the running. But there you go.

Stay tuned.
Daniel.
